LEGACY ENDORSEMENTS

“One of our blind customers needed to get clothes for a job interview. I offered assistance by taking him to a shopping center, and guiding him through the entire store. If I had not enrolled in LEGACY training, I would not have been able to provide that service. My customer was hired by Wells Fargo as a telephone banker, and is now on his way to achieving his dreams.”

Mayra Ornelas
Disablity Coordinator & Career Resource Specialist
Chinatown WorkSource Center

“Legacy enabled us to train a large number of staff from a variety of service providers.  One-stop staff from the receptionist to the LWIB director has been made more aware of how to best serve customers with disabilities.  The training was not only enlightening but was also entertaining with a good mix of concrete information reinforced with enjoyable activities.”

Alix Shor
Employment & Training Program Coordinator
Sonoma County Job Link and SonomaWORKS

“By enrolling in LEGACY, I learned how to help people with disabilities the best way possible. I also learned about assistive technologies, how to make our center more accessible, and how the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Fair Employment and Housing Act protect persons with disabilities.”

Wendy Calaycay
Disability Navigator
Harbor WorkSource Center

“Being open and sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities is important to me. LEGACY training showed me how.”

Lemonde Goodloe
Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services

“LEGACY is an outstanding program! I became very knowledgeable about disability issues, and shared that knowledge with the staff at our WorkSource Center. Now, when persons with disabilities visit our center, our staff feels very comfortable working with them.”

Izettar Earls
Disability Coordinator
Westlake WorkSource Center

”I would personally like to thank you for providing me the opportunity to participate in this outstanding training. I have enjoyed it from beginning to end. The knowledge and information provided has definitely given me the "Cutting Edge". As an individual who provides employment services to persons with disabilities, I am more aware of various legalities, formalities and etiquette when serving this population. I look forward to continuing in the next phases of levels DSSII & DSSIII. Once again, thank you dearly for this education and experience. It will be forever meaningful.”

My name is Mary L. Byrd, and I have worked as an Eligibility Specialist for LA Works since 1991. I have completed all 8 Modules of the Legacy On-Line Training.  After completing the first module it was like I was addicted to the information contained within these fabulous on-line training modules.  I felt like a sponge, I could hardly wait for a free minute so I could log back onto the internet.  Every free minute I had I would return to the Legacy Training Network and consume more information.  The information I received was so informative, that now, I feel I'm able to be more patient, considerate, understanding and aware of how people with disabilities might view themselves and how they may perceive society might possible view them.  I wish to thank the entire Legacy Staff for the most priceless information which is contained in these Legacy Training Modules.  I can not imagine the time and trials it must have taken for you to develop these valuable resources so we as family members, staff and individuals can provide
better care for people with disabilities.   Again, I thank you!
