Access to Assessment & Other Services
In order for any assessment process to be effective, it must first be accessible. In the Worksource system, assessment of clients with disabilities may require some accommodations.

Following is a summary of some accommodations that Worksource centers may provide for clients with disabilities:

Vision Impairments
  • Staff training in how to communicate with, and
    assist persons who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Printed materials provided in large print version,
    Braille, audio tape, and on computer disk
  • Staff member available to read materials to client
  • Screen reading software with voice output, for example JAWS.
  • Large computer monitor
  • Closed circuit TV monitor that magnifies text
  • Screen magnification software
  • Hand-held or desk magnifiers
  • Task lighting
  • Large print & high-contrast keyboard labels
Hearing & Speech Impairments
  • Staff training in how to communicate with persons
    who are deaf or hard of hearing, and those with speech impairments.
  • Instructions on captioned videotape
  • Sign language interpreter
  • Real-time translation
  • Assistive Listening Devices
  • All verbal instructions duplicated in writing
Cognitive & learning disabilities
  • Staff training on how to communicate with persons with
    cognitive and learning disabilities, and other mental disorders.
  • Computer software for example Wynn/Wizard & Wynn Reader
  • Mylar overlays for printed materials to aid clients with dyslexia
  • Staff assistance to explain instructions
  • Allow extra time to complete forms, tests
Upper and lower body disabilities
  • Staff training on how to assist persons with upper or lower body mobility impairments.
  • Office environment must be wheelchair-accessible
  • Wheelchair-accessible workstation available
  • Alternatives to written forms and tests for persons
    with fine motor control limitations: staff assistance
    to complete forms/tests, oral testing, computer-based forms and tests.
